Witchy Vibes with Andy Balas Photos

I got to shoot with a good friend of mine, Andy Balas, for my first shoot back again. Every time I take a break, he’s always been the first photographer I work with when I come back! I was looking for a dark and gloomy setting. Very old gothic/witchy vibes and I think we did a pretty good job of putting it together.

Mad props to him for the awesome photo editing. Also figuring out the lighting and stuff while we were shooting! His fiance always comes to help out. I enjoy having her around because she helps out immensely with the shoot, and also adds to my  goofiness, making it a great time!

Anyone looking for photos in the Toledo area should definitely check out Andy’s work!

Without further ado, here are a few of my favorite shots from the shoot. I will probably take a look at all of the edits again and add more later on!

Wish.com: The Pro’s & Con’s of Getting Cheap Clothes

I discovered Wish a couple years ago when I was still modeling. A photographer that I wanted to work with sent me there to get some clothing ideas for our shoot and I was hooked. How could I not be when seeing t shirts for $3 and shoes for $12?!

Cheap clothes were offset by the lengthy shipping days. I think I waited at least 3 weeks until I got my first purchase. Since then, I’ve purchased many more items from there. So what are the pros and cons that I’ve found when ordering from Wish.com?

            1. By far the cheapest, fashionable clothes you will find online.

When I first ordered, I had a very hard time believing that these prices were real. Part of me was afraid that I would spend the money and then 3 weeks later get an item in the mail that looked nothing like the item pictured. I have been lucky enough to get the items in the mail that look like the photos. For the most part. If you’re a model, or just a girl who loves clothes, this site is a savior for your wallet!

2. They have a lot of stylish options.

Some of the clothes that I find on there are even more fashionable than local stores offer! Dresses, shoes, jeans, sweaters, you name it. They have pretty much everything you could imagine for a fraction of the cost of other clothing stores. Once again, I’ve been lucky enough to get some pretty high quality items. You just have to read the reviews before buying.

3. There’s more than just clothing available.

I’ve seen some extremely awesome and practical items on Wish for my house. Kitchen utensils, home decor, shelving, and even baby stuff is available! My wishlist is full of insanely awesome product ideas that I’ve never seen in the United States. I’m sure if they do have them here, they will cost so much more to buy them. More products are added all the time so your options are endless!

4. It’s essentially a foreign version of Amazon.

Instead of Wish being the store you’re buying from, there are different sellers that list products on the site. So while some items may take a while to get to you, others are there much quicker. I always read the review section so I know what other buyers have to say about it. If there are no reviews or bad reviews, you can usually find the same item from another seller that has better reviews.

5. The shipping dates listed are usually accurate, you might even get it sooner!

As stated already, I order from this site often. Unlike with similar sites, I don’t recall a time when I have gotten anything later than expected. In fact, I’ve gotten quite a few items much earlier than expected. Sometimes by even a couple of weeks! It makes for a nice surprise when I check the mail and there’s my outfit I thought wouldn’t arrive for another week or two.

            1. The sizes are way off!

You really need to read the reviews and learn Asian sizing charts before ordering. I always order at least 1 size bigger when buying anything because I have long arms and legs. Most sweaters I’ve bought were too short in the arms so I have to wear them with sleeves pushed up. Pants are a non order item for me because my legs are just too long for them.

2. The reviews aren’t always accurate.

Sometimes I read reviews and they contradict each other like crazy. One person will say the item is true to size and they love it, while another person says it was too small and it was cheap quality. At that point you really have to go with your gut instinct. I’ve been fortunate to be good at guessing how the product will look when it comes to me, but I’m sure there could come a day when I’m not so lucky.

3. The shipping times vary.

While sometimes you will get things very quickly, other times it can take almost a month for your item to arrive. I always check the delivery dates before ordering because I rarely want to wait that long for my item to come. Also, don’t read the reviews and think that because one person got theirs 2 weeks early that you will too. I’ve made that mistake and here I am, still waiting for my furry boots. *Sigh*

4. Buying foreign really isn’t good for the United States economy.

Trust me, I know this is hypocritical but I have to add it in here because it’s true. As citizens of the United States, we should really be putting more money into our own economy rather than spending it overseas. I have tried to do that as well more often than I used to. But the fact of the matter is, when you’re a broke biatch, sites like Wish are very tempting. Cheap is a necessity for me since we are on a tight budget. I’m only human and I can’t help myself sometimes.

There you have it folks. My pro’s and con’s list for Wish.If you have any comments or questions please let me know! As always, you can also contact me by emailing me at skully@skullyinspace.com! I hope this was in some way helpful to you all. I Wish you the best (hehe get it?) and happy shopping!

Adventure Time: Lunch Date & Sidecut Park

Adventures after you have a baby can be difficult, or even seemingly impossible. James and I are fortunate to have 2 sets of parents that love to watch their grandkids. So on Saturday, while the boys were with their dads, my in laws watched Emery so we could have a lunch date! We decided on going to Smokey Bones for a day drink and food.

I wasn’t super hungry so I ended up just getting some pretzel bones with cheese to dip them in. Yes, I know, I’m totally fucking up my healthy eating for my weight loss. Back at it this week though! Anyway, I also wanted a margarita so I ordered something called the Neon Beach. Not only was it their cheapest margarita option, but the ingredients sounded pretty damn good. Blue coracco, creme de coconut, tequila, and some type of lime sour stuff.

It came out in this massive glass and I was a little nervous about drinking it all but it was so good! After all was said and done, I was barely buzzed from it so I’m thinking the glass just made it look like a bigger drink than it was. I would definitely order it again though!

James and I had a great time talking about our local creative community and what we want to accomplish in our own creative lives. I built him a website recently ( jculprit.com ) so he was very excited to perfect and launch that. After that, I was discussing all the things I’d like to do for my YouTube channel, as well as my blog. I think I’m finally starting to figure out the direction in which I’d like to take things!

When we were done we picked up baby boy and went home to work on business stuff. We watched movies and relaxed the rest of the night, which was nice to be able to do. Emery went to bed at about 10 and only woke up 2 times before morning!

Then on Sunday we woke up, got coffee at Biggby, got bagels at Barry Bagels, and went to Sidecut Park. I had Emery in his Boba wrap so he was out as soon as I started walking. Let me tell you, Sidecut is beautiful this time of year! Leaves were everywhere and the colors were perfect. Not to mention the weather was super nice.

There are all these old stone pathways and I’ve always loved that park because of those alone. It reminds me of Ireland. Not that I’ve ever been to Ireland, but it’s how I like to imagine Ireland in my head! It’s my husband and I’s dream vacation spot. We one day want to go there and visit Birr castle. It’s his “family” castle lol, somewhere down the line his ancestors owned it or something.

Anyway, after the park we went to Barnes & Noble and I got a new Badass Planner. Unfortunately it doesn’t start until Jan 2017 but I was reading through it and it has tons of profanity and inspiration. Obviously this planner is perfect for me. screenshot-10

We then visited the in laws and went to my parents house after picking up Roman and Caiden! So that was the end of our adventurous weekend! Thank you guys for reading, as always I really appreciate you wanting to get to know me/us!

Baby Wearing Review: Moby Wrap vs Boba Wrap & How To Use Them

I talk about baby wearing all the time. If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram, you have probably seen photos of me with Emery tied to my chest. This hands free way of keeping my baby happy allows me to finally get things done!

I’ve used one of those carriers before that have the buckles that adjust and it never really did the trick. Poor kids just hung in there, head flopping all over with little to no support. My wrap holds the baby firmly against my chest so he feels like he is being held.

Little to no crying? Yes please! Sane Skully is a happy Skully.  As with any type of carrier, it can hurt your back after a while. Honestly it’s still more comfortable to me than one of those heavy duty buckle carries though.

Here’s a video for those of you who are curious about baby wearing. Describing the differences between Moby and Boba and which one is my favorite!

Photo Blog: Selfie Portraits

Photo Blog: We finally got a new camera! The Panasonic g7 is what we ended up deciding on. It is super light weight and has good lens options. I think it’s going to be perfect for my vlogging!

This camera is actually really cool because it gives you the wifi option to connect it to your phone. I downloaded the app and sent the photo or photos straight to my phone camera roll! It’s amazing and convenient and I love it.

Besides that, I started taking self portraits. Or as I like to call them, “selfie portraits”. You know I’m strange already so quit that eye rolling. My boredom this morning took over and I decided to try out my selfie portrait abilities. Let me know what you think!

Those are just the ones I ended up liking after editing. The rest I just deleted because the space on my phone is limited. I’ve got a newborn so, that explains it.

Of course I had to show off my newest coffee mug. Or as I like to call it, “coffee chalice”. I found it at 5 Below and just about died when I saw it. Because literally, I can’t even. They had a ton of different mugs there actually. All of them were only $4 too!

I know that you’re thinking I’m ridiculous at this point, but this is all in sarcastic fun. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a little sarcasm in the morning! Or anytime really. Sarcasm = life.

Anyway, I decided I’m going to be attempting to make some videos in the future that are more on the creative side. Maybe some of my morning routine, or some yoga. If you have any ideas for topics please let me know!

Well, that does it for my first edition of Photo Blog! *In Porky the Pig voice* That’s all folks!

Postpartum: Month 1 | Healing, Diastasis Recti & Baby Update!

I can’t believe it’s already been a full month since little man was born! Time flies when you’re exhausted– I mean, having fun! There have definitely been ups and downs, but we are so happy to have Emery here.  Our family is finally complete!

I did forget to mention my weights from start to finish in this video. I actually weighed 145 directly after having him. Now I’m down to 138.

4b8ev1476294131 wpt7o1476294162

I’m struggling with the weight thing because I’ve always been so small. With exercise and healthier eating I will get back down to 120 in no time. My new yoga mat should help me start getting back into yoga should help significantly!

I also wanted to look into different brands of those postpartum belly wrap things. You know, the ones that help push your organs back in. So that might be a very brash way of putting it, but essentially that’s what they do!

Oh, and my boobs went from A cups to C cups. That’s extremely exciting for me! Granted, they are filled with milk most of the time so I guess that’s giving me a little boost in size.

I’ve never had big boobs except during pregnancy. They are honestly the biggest with this postpartum experience! Why am I talking so much about my boobs? Moving on…

Another thing I’d like to address is people are starting to ask to gift us with things. That is super sweet of you guys, but I’m perfectly fine with just getting your support! Support meaning watching my videos/reading my blog! Any time I see a comment from you I get so giddy!

If you really insist, I will make a wishlist but I’m not ready to do that yet. I’m just happy to be getting the feedback from everyone that I am getting! You all rock! Ok, I’ll stop typing so you can watch the video.

Who Wants to Buy a Human Person?!

Ok, so maybe you can’t buy the WHOLE person, but now that I have your attention at least attempt to hear me out! I’m offering a part of the creativity inside my brain. In the form of words, in a typed out formation. Yes, this is my awkward way of letting people know, I’M FOR HIRE as a freelance writer! I can write blog articles, reviews, creative stories, fiction, non fiction, product descriptions, eulogies (I’m only mostly joking)…

This article isn’t going to interest many of you. I get that. The only person probably reading this right now is just my mom, and that’s only because she saw the title and thought I was selling people on the black market… hi mom! But I thought I’d post this on my blog because I’m letting everyone in on my life and this is a big part of it! I have decided to go full time with writing and instead of just using my blog to showcase my creativity I’d like to branch out and take some other types of writing assignments as well!

Now that you’re super excited for me, let’s discuss what brought me to this conclusion. You may have seen me post on Facebook about getting a job recently.  The company was Call Center QA. It was an online mystery shopping job that involved me calling different places such as colleges, insurance companies, etc. and acting interested in their service. Then after a few minutes I would rate them on their customer service.

In order to get that job I had to do a test call first that was unpaid. Once I got approved they emailed me a list of 10 calls to complete at $5 a piece. Not bad for sitting at home talking on the phone right? Well, I completed 2 phone calls and never got an email back OR got paid. Scam artists. How rude! You’ll have that with a lot of these “online job opportunities”.

So my job search continued. I kept seeing posts for freelance writing jobs and thought, “I have no real experience so they won’t hire me.” But I decided to look into it and there are plenty of jobs for beginners! So I’ve been applying for them for days and I’m really hoping I hear back from at least 1.

Wish me luck, and thank you for reading, even after seeing my morbidly creepy title!

Weekend Adventures

I have been dying to get out of this house and go do something interesting! But when you’ve got a newborn and you’re broke, it makes it a little difficult to find things to do. I was really looking to do something out of the ordinary this weekend but we weren’t having much luck thinking of things we could do. So we settled and started off at the park.

There is this park close by that we like to go to called Wildwood. I’ve done a few photo shoots there but never really saw the playground that they have so we decided to take the boys.

Believe it or not, they were hugging on their own. We didn’t even have to force this photo! They were really excited to go to the park, and this one especially. The playground is HUGE, and it’s also my favorite park right now due to the awesome nature trails they have leading through the woods!

They had a lot of fun there and met this little girl who was so precious. I swear she could have been our friend, Crista’s daughter with all the personality she had! She spun the boys on this metal thing and they were loving it. She wanted them to spin her next but they ran off so James spun her instead. He must have done it too fast because she kept saying, “Oh JESUS!” We were dying laughing!

It was also fun to people watch. Although there were a lot of very rude kids there that day. One little boy cussed out his mom from a park bench, another stole Roman’s swing, and then there was the mom screaming at her little boy for pulling leaves off of a tree. I’m talking, she was SCREAMING. She told him, “Now they won’t let us come back!” as she pointed in my direction. The kid looked at me like I’m the one who wouldn’t let him come back so I smiled at him, hoping he wouldn’t come ask me about it. Of course his mom put him in time out right next to me on my bench and I got dirty looks for a solid minute.

Leaving the park there was another interesting happening. There’s this circle drive and a weird blue mustang would stop at the yield sign and just sit there until another car came around. Then he would drive around the circle again and stop at a different yield sign. I have no idea what the dude was doing, but I think he was doing drugs. I mean, I just don’t see any other explanation! haha

After the park we went to my mom & dad’s house to hangout. I feel bad because we always just stop by there and end up staying for hours, but I’m in desperate need of social interaction and we only have 1 set of friends who have kids and understand that we can’t go out all the time, who are extremely busy people. So we stopped by my parent’s house, and stayed for hours hanging out by the fire and had a couple beers.

I was EXHAUSTED. I woke up with the baby for the 2nd time at 5am and could NOT get back to sleep. I sat on my phone, even after Emery went back to bed, and I looked at clothes and Pinterest for a good hour and a half. I woke up again at 7:30am and then for good closer to 9. Our plan was to get ready and go to the festival that MacQueen’s has every year.

Roman came into our room and asked if he could lay by me because he had a belly ache. So I let him up in the bed and about 2 minutes later he was in the bathroom throwing up. I made him a bed on the couch and James went to get us all breakfast. We checked to see what time the festival ended and it said 8pm, so we decided to stop by after we dropped Roman off at his dad’s at 6.

We ended up laying around until about 5 where we then went to my parent’s house again to wait until Roman had to be dropped off. My dad loves to have bon fires so that’s what he was doing, as well as grilling chicken wings.

^^We never get photos together anymore so I was especially excited about this one!

Roman was still not feeling very well. Poor kid! We dropped him off then went straight to the festival. I got Emery out and all wrapped up in my Boba Wrap and as we started walking he started crying because he was hungry. I tried to duck into some trees and pull out my boob to feed him but my shirt was stuck and it just wasn’t working. I got back into the car and fed him there. James took photos of Caiden while they waited. family7

When I got back out, I got him all situated in the wrap again and climbed back up the hill to get to the path. I watched as people rudely stole apples off of the trees without paying to pick them. That kind of stuff makes me mad, that’s how they make money! They don’t grow the apples for people to just come steal them! Anyway, I went into the orchard part and got a photo, but Emery refused to turn his head toward the camera! He sure doesn’t get that from me!

We walked up to where the fair was going on and noticed they were tearing everything down!! I was so upset, I really wanted to be able to look around there! Especially since I had to miss my favorite festival of all, the Johnny Appleseed Festival in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I’ve actually not been to a festival all summer long! So I was bummed. I did get a photo of the remaining rides they had up though.

After we left I was still pretty bummed out. James decided we could go out to dinner so I chose Paddy Jack’s! We shared the Loco Jack which is turkey, cream cheese, some other cheese, and crushed up doritos! It was pretty good, but not as good as my usual! Their fries are the best ever and that’s all Caiden wanted so I shared some of those with him. Emery was excited about all the TVs, even though he can’t even see them in color yet!

Then we went home, put Caiden to bed, and watched New Girl. Which is our typical nightly routine. Part of me loves coming home and crawling into bed with the nice, cozy blankets. The other part hates knowing that I’ve got to be back home. Especially Sunday nights because I know that’s the beginning of a whole other week of being stuck in the house.

I’ll write a different blog post eventually about why I’m always stuck in the house and why I never go anywhere. But that is a story that is somewhat long and best discussed another day! Thanks for stopping by to check out our weekend adventures! Leave me some comments, I like replying to them!
